The Northwest and California Affiliates of the World History Association are pleased to announce their inaugural Joint Conference, to be held October 12-13, 2012 at Portland State University located in downtown Portland, Oregon.
Come join us for an exciting program featuring new research and pedagogy in World History. Secondary teachers, university and college faculty, and graduate students are invited to submit individual paper or full panel proposals.
The theme for this year will be "The Environment in World History: Seeing Through a Local or Global Lens," although proposals on any aspect of World History scholarship or teaching are welcome.
Portland offers numerous microbreweries, world class restaurants, the Japanese Garden, Lansu Classical Chinese Garden, and Powell’s Bookstore. Portland is within driving distance of Willamette Valley wineries, the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, Mt. Hood, and Oregon’s Pacific Coast.
Proposals should include a 250-word abstract of each paper and curriculum vitae for each presenter. The deadline for proposals is July 15th, 2012 and should be e-mailed as attachments to:
