Call for Papers
Dates: 30 November – 1 December, 2012
Location: Aarhus University, Aarhus, Denmark
We are pleased to invite proposals for papers in the broad theme “Britishness Past and Present (with specific reference to Australia and Canada)”, to be presented at a symposium of the same name on 30 November – 1 December at Aarhus University, Denmark.
“Britishness” persists as a debated theme in the academic world and the general public as a result of numerous factors, including mass immigration and multiculturalism, as well as the rise of nationalism and republicanism in former “settled” British colonies and in the British Isles, manifested both in attacks on British symbols, traditions and institutions, but also calls for their preservation and in some cases even restoration. It is within this contested environment that we have organised this event.
Proposals (max. 500 words) should be sent to Mark Ølholm Eaton (engme@hum.au.dk) no later than June 15, 2012. Please include a CV and all current contact information (name, e-mail, phone number, affiliation).
