The Midwest Popular Culture Association/American Culture Association welcomes papers and/or panels on GIRLS' STUDIES topics for presentation at the annual conference, October 12 - 14, 2012, in Columbus, Ohio.
Please send a 200-word abstract of your proposed paper. If you would like to propose a panel, your proposal should consist of 3 to 4 papers and include a chair/commentator. CONFERENCE LOCATION: The MPCA/MACA conference is Friday, October 12 through Sunday, October 14, 2012, at the Renaissance Columbus Downtown Hotel in Columbus, OH. 50 North Third Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215. The Marriott hotel. Tel: 1-614-228-5050. Fax:1-614-228-2525.
The hotel is 10 minutes from Port Columbus International Airport (CHM). This hotel does not provide shuttle service. Alternate transportation: Urban Express Shuttle; fee: 17 USD (one way); reservation required Bus service, fee: 25.00 USD (one way); Estimated taxi fare: 18.00 USD (one way) Columbus is in the Eastern Standard Time Zone. Information about our special conference hotel room rate will be confirmed later. Feel free to consult the MPCA website for updated information at your convenience. REGISTRATION FEE INCLUDES: A luncheon and continental breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
MEDIA/AV EQUIPMENT: AV equipment will be rented from the hotel by the Association. ONLY TV/DVD PLAYERS WILL BE AVAILABLE. Panelists must request their DVD player at the time they submit their proposal.
CONFERENCE PROGRAM: To be posted on the website as soon as possible (around Aug). Printed copies of the program will be distributed at the conference.
MEMBERSHIP DUES & REGISTRATION FEES: Membership renewal forms for the 2012 calendar year and 2012 conference registration forms will be available on the website in the coming weeks. The membership fee will be $80 ($50 for students with ID, retirees, and unemployed). The registration fee will be $110 ($80 for students with ID, retirees, and unemployed). The late fee will be $15 for all payments received on-site or postmarked after September 15, 2011. Note: Fees are subject to change without notice.
