African Migration to Spain
Doreen O'Connor-Gómez, Whittier College
Spain has experienced incredible demographic changes over the past two decades and migration from Africa figures prominently in this debate and discussion. This special session invites papers that delve into literary works (novels, short stories, dramatic works, or films) that address the migratory movements of Africans to Spain. Papers should address how such texts help us to answer questions of dislocation, travel, borders, diasporic identities, transnational contacts and cultures, cultural memory, and/or the transmission of identity across generations.
