The Museum of Early Trades and Crafts (METC) is looking to create an edited collection of essays as part of its next exhibit catalog. The upcoming exhibit focuses on child indentures as social welfare during the mid-eighteenth through the late nineteenth century. The catalog, with essay collection, will be published upon receipt of a grant that the METC is in the process of applying for. As the museum focuses on the history of New Jersey final essays should either focus on New Jersey or include examples from New Jersey.
Possible topics include:
-African American children
-Female children
-Why the system was abandoned
-State’s right to intervene in private affairs
-Treatment of children who were indentured out
-Restrictions of indenture
-Merits/Disadvantages of system
Please include your abstract and a C.V. Abstracts should not exceed 250 words.
