Università di Palermo announces a call for papers for the Sixth Edition of Annual International Summer School on Migrant Women at the Museum of Emigrations, Island of Salina (Sicily), 24-29 September 2012.
The Summer School is a unique conference specifically for PhD students, early career researchers and free scholars. It consists of workshops and sessions focused on submitted research papers concerning on the following topics:
•Living arrangements of migrant women in other context
•Gender gap and solidarity among migrant women
•Migrant women, sense of community, social network and social support
•Diaspora and mobilities
•Migrant women, mothering and child-care strategy
•Migrant women at work and social capital: experiences and identity
•Migrant women, transnational networks and remittances
•Migrant women health
The school offers an informal atmosphere in which new ideas and research directions can be shared and debated, be it in the beautiful Island of Salina (Sicily).
Please submit a proposal of 300-500 words, including title and references, with a brief biographical note (max. 100 words) to elisabetta.digiovanni@unipa.it by May 4, 2012.
Notification of acceptance will be given by May 30, 2012.
Summer School fee is 200 euros. We will cover the cost of conference meals for selected speakers. Participants will need to cover their own costs of transportation and accommodation. The closest airport is Catania, with frequent and good international connections.
