Hello, I am proposing a panel for the International Convention of Asia Scholars (ICAS)--the premier international gathering in the field of Asian Studies. It attracts participants from over 60 countries to engage in global dialogues on Asia that transcend boundaries between academic disciplines and geographic areas. ICAS 8 will be hosted by the University of Macau (UM) and will be held in the Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel.
Major theme: Population migration in Asia
Sub-theme:
Migration policies, ir/regular migration, vulnerabilities; gendered migration; remittances and development; conflicts; asylum policies; refugees; climate change and its attendant consequences; forced displacements; trafficking in human and jockey; organ trading and migration and medical and sex migration.
Interested researchers; faculties, social scientists; activists are invited to send in abstracts of between 500 and 800 words with clear background; objectives; arguments, expected results and policy implications. The abstract should accompany a half-page Bio of the contributors.
Papers selected for presentation will be considered for a book volume. Manuscripts that have not been published or are not under consideration for publication elsewhere will be considered.
Financial support: The panel organizers hope to cover all expenses related to the attendance at the conference. The effort is underway. However, at this point no commitment could be made. We would appreciate it if you could arrange your travel expenses from your own institute or elsewhere.
