Contested Boundaries is a collection of new critical essays that aim to map the space between A Mercy, Toni Morrison's most recent work of fiction, and Beloved, the work with which her latest novel is most closely associated. In doing so, it endeavors to trouble narrative boundaries demarcating the two tales in ways that enable a re-evaluation of the author's multiple text canon.
The editor welcomes essays representing a range of scholarly and theoretical perspectives.
