The Conference schedule for the Eastern American Studies Association meeting at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey, March 30-31, 2012, has now been posted at http://hbg.psu.edu/research/easa/conferences.htm along with forms for registration and hotel reservation. The theme of the conference is on "Tradition and Innovation in American Culture" and features twelve panel sessions on topics such as Foodways, Cold War, Race and Gender, Wilderness and health, Culture as Poverty, Cyber communities, Empires and Migrations, Heroes and Anti-Heroes, Popular Media, Presentation of Self, and Institutions in Transition. The keynote address for the conference will be delivered by Simon J. Bronner and the plenary luncheon address will be given by Michael Aaron Rockland. The conference will include presentation of undergraduate and graduate student awards and the inaugural inducation of students into the American Studies honor society--Epsilon Alpha Kappa. A tour of Wood Lawn, an early nineteenth century historic site, led by architectural historian Elizabeth Reeves will be available at the conclusion of the conference.
