The SUNY Center for Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) invites proposals for presentations that broadly support this year’s conference themes; including individual presentations, panels, mini-workshops, or alternative innovative formats (including those utilizing videoconferencing and other technologies). Joint proposals from cross-department and/or inter-institutional teams, those which include substantial audience participation, or which bring in student perspectives are particularly encouraged. This year’s conference is being held June 7-8, at the SUNY Global Center in New York City.
2012 COIL Conference Themes:
- Globally Networked Classrooms as Portals to Increased Study Abroad Participation
- Role of GNL in Integrating Intercultural or Global Dimensions into the Curriculum
- Growing and Sustaining Globally Networked Learning Initiatives
- Supporting the Faculty and Institutional Partnering Process
- Application of Educational Technology to Internationalization
- Fostering and Evaluating Student Cross-cultural Competence
- Initial outcomes of the COIL Institute for Globally Networked Learning in the Humanities
COIL’s annual conference gathers faculty, international educators, instructional technologists, and administrators from around the world to share experiences and best practices for developing globally networked learning initiatives. The SUNY COIL Center is a leader in the emerging field of Globally Networked Learning (GNL); a teaching and learning methodology which provides innovative cost-effective internationalization strategies. GNL programs foster faculty and student exchange with peers abroad through co-taught multicultural online and blended learning environments that emphasize experiential collaboration.
