The conference, Deadly Serious Art: Strategies of Humor as Critique, sponsored by the Art History Department of The Graduate Center, City University of New York will take place on Friday, March 9, 2012 from 10:00-5:00 in the Martin Segal Theatre of The Graduate Center, CUNY at 365 Fifth Avenue, New York.
The conference features a keynote conversation with Dr. Simon Critchley, Professor of Philosophy at The New School, and includes nine presentations selected from a national call for papers. Speakers include Russel Stephens (University of British Columbia), Jenna Kloeppel (University of New Mexico), James Fishburne (University of California, Los Angeles), Susanne Figner Ruembeli (New York University), Hallie Scott (The Graduate Center, CUNY), Tatjana Myoko von Prittwitz und Gaffron (Bard College), Elizabeth Hawley (The Graduate Center, CUNY), Ellen Brueckner (Princeton University), and Sooran Choi (The Graduate Center, CUNY). Events are free and open to the public and refreshments will be served.
