The History Graduate Student Association (HGSA) at California State University, Fresno would like to announce the 14th Annual History Graduate Student Symposium on Saturday, April 28, 2012. This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Lorena Oropeza, an Associate Professor of Chicano/a history and U.S Foreign Relations at the University of California, Davis. Dr. Oropeza is the author of, ˇRaza Sí! ˇGuerra No!: Chicano Protest and Patriotism during the Viet Nam War Era (UC Press, 2005) and is currently working on a project that explores the history of the Alianza land-grant movement in New Mexico, employing the theme of memory and history.
We invite submissions for individual papers from graduate students at all levels of study. Proposals may cover all fields and approaches of historical scholarship and span all chronological and geographical boundaries. Please submit a 200-300 word proposal and a copy of your C.V. by March 1, 2012 to William Mask at wmask@mail.fresnostate.edu. Upon acceptance of the abstract, completed papers should be submitted no later than Friday, April 13, 2012.
