CALL FOR PAPERS: “From Slavery to Freedom in the North Carolina Piedmont”

Johnson C. Smith University is pleased to host a one-day conference titled “From Slavery to Freedom in the North Carolina Piedmont.” The conference will take place on March 30, 2012 on the JSCU campus in uptown Charlotte, North Carolina. We invite submissions for individual paper presentations from researchers including faculty, independent scholars, as well as graduate and undergraduate student who are working on topics related to slavery and reconstruction in the piedmont region of North Carolina. Scholars with closely related research topics are encouraged to submit as we continue to consider additional panel. Please limit proposal to 300 words. Paper submission should include the scholar’s curriculum vita, working title and a brief description of the central argument. For panel proposals, please include a description of the panel topic in addition to the individual paper abstracts and vitae.
