The lecture will describe the role of German historians in the construction of historical narrative which supported and justified the hegemony and leadership of Prussia in the Second Reich. The cornerstone of this narrative was the part of the Prussian generals, army and people in the war against the French Army and Napoleon in the year 1813. These historians glorified the Prussian contribution to the liberation of Germany and Europe, and criticised its alliance to the war (Russia, Austria) whose share in the liberation of Europe was, perhaps, more essential than Prussia's.
