Dear Colleague,
Are you going to attend the SCSC conference in October 2012 (Cincinnati) and/or the RSA conference in April 2013 (San Diego), or any other professional conference this or next year?
If yes, are you thinking of presenting a paper on a Jesuit topic? Or, do you have an idea for a panel on Jesuit topics?
If you do, would you mind sending me a title with a short proposal (of either paper or panel) so that we can coordinate the organization of sessions for these conferences?
I'm asking you this in view of planning potential theme issues for a new journal, Journal of Jesuit Interdisciplinary Studies (JJIS) that I shall be founding in collaboration with Brill in 2014. In this context, would you please think of those topics/geographical areas that have been neglected or need to be reconsidered in the historiography on the Jesuits? I'd especially welcome broader topics, which could be interpreted through the prism of Jesuit history, such as civic humanism and Jesuits, gender and Jesuits, slavery and Jesuits, etc.
If you are planning to deliver a paper during the SCSC conference in October 2012, please send me your proposal before 1 March. If you are planning to deliver a paper during the RSS conference in April 2013, please send me your proposal before 1 April.
Feel free to forward this letter to anybody who might be interested in the matter.
Sincerely yours,
Robert A. Maryks
