Seeking a panelist and a commentator for a panel examining sexual mores and white supremacy at the OAH annual meeting in April 2013 in San Francisco.
We have a chair and two panelists. One of the papers examines interracial rape cases during the civil rights era in which African American women sought to force white authorites to punish white rapists. The other paper explores how the White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan in Mississippi violated their own purported sexual mores.
Proposal topics could include any examination of how white supremacists in America violated their sexual and/or racial mores.
For proposals for the panel, please send a 250-word proposal that includes an explanation of how your paper would fit into the panel and the conference theme, "Entangled Histories: Connections, Crossings, and Constraints in U.S. History." Please also send a brief bio. Commentators, please send a brief bio. Please send all requested information to Patricia Boyett at patriciamboyett@gmail.com by February 10, 2012.
