Seeking a presenter to serve on a panel examining desegregation in higher education at the AHA conference 2013 in New Orleans.
Our panel focuses on the desegregation of higher education in the South. One of the papers analyzes the conspiracy to prevent Clyde Kennard from desegregating the University of Southern Mississippi, and the other paper explores the response of Governor Fritz Hollings to the effort of Harvey Gant to desegregate Clemson University in South Carolina. We have a wonderful commentator who is an expert in desegregation.
We are looking for a panelist who explores desegregation in higher education in any state in the South except Mississippi and South Carolina.
Please send a 250-word proposal and a brief bio to Patricia Boyett at patriciamboyett@gmail.com. In your proposal, please explain how your paper would fit into the conference theme, "Lives, Places, and Stories." Please send proposal by February 10, 2012.
