GSA Panel: Expats, Immigrants, Volunteers and Germanophiles: non-German contributions to Germany's 20th Century
I would like to put together a panel for the 2012 German Studies Association conference that examines non-Germans who were actively engaged in the shaping of major cultural, political, social or economic impulses or projects (whether successful or not) in 20th century Germany. My own research examines foreign volunteers to the SS and their efforts to affect the political and economic integration of Western Europe during the Second World War. The panel can take any number of more detailed foci depending on who is interested in joining.
