Participants sought for a panel on missionaries, conversion, and empire for the 2012 American Studies Association Annual Meeting, to be held in San Juan November 15-18. Panelists are encouraged to consider the topic broadly. Possibilities include missionaries from all periods in American history, including the present; the effects of mission work on stateside religion; conversion narratives; resistance to conversion; race, ethnicity, and missionaries; construction of the missionary field; and the role of missionaries in empire. If interested, please notify Rebecca Barrett-Fox at email@example.com promptly and send a 2 page CV and 500 word abstract by January 9th.
