Participants sought for a panel on religion and slavery for the 2012 American Studies Association Annual Meeting, to be held in San Juan November 15-18. Panelists are encouraged to consider the topic broadly. Possibilities include abolition and religion, the internal slave trade and religion, slavery in sermons before and after Emancipation, memories of slavery, religions of enslaved peoples, material religious culture and antebellum life, and religious engagement in efforts to end sex trafficking. If interested, please notify Rebecca Barrett-Fox at rbarrettfox@ku.edu promptly and send a 2 page CV and 500 word abstract by January 9th.
