The editors of Alphaville: Journal of Film and Screen Media seek additional articles for its fourth issue to be published online in 2012.
For its fourth issue, which will have a publication date of winter 2012, Alphaville invites contributions that deal with film from a variety of perspectives: film as story, as art, as commodity, as experience, as educational tool, as cultural product, as archive, as media technology. We encourage theoretical and empirical approaches to the study of modern and contemporary cinema, encompassing such aspects as: film text, context, production, representation, distribution and reception. Cultural studies perspectives, theoretical and historical approaches, textual analysis, and audience research studies are all welcome within this open issue. Previous issues have focussed on the following topics: “European Cinema: Transnational, Transcultural, Transmedial” (Summer 2011); “Space and Time in Film” (Winter 2011); “Sound, Voice, Music” (Summer 2012).
Potential contributors are invited to submit an article abstract (300 words), along with a short bibliography and an up-to-date biographical note to the editors by 17 February 2012 at: Issue4.Alphaville@gmail.com.
Please contact the editors, Marian Hurley, Stefano Odorico and Aidan Power, with any queries at the above email address.
The editors’ decision will follow quickly. Following acceptance, authors will be required to submit their articles by 27 April 2012. Completed articles submitted for peer-review should be 5500-6000 words in length and follow MLA as well as house style: http://www.alphavillejournal.com/HouseStyle.html
