The 20th Pacific History Association Conference will be held at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, on 6-8 December 2012.
Further to the call for session proposals (closed 31 August 2011) a final general call for papers and additional sessions is now open (closing 2 March 2012).
Proposals on all topics or themes relating to Pacific History (including the following areas) are welcome.
o Tangata Whenua, Tangata Moana: Mâori in Pacific History
o New Zealand and the Pacific: Historical Intersections
o Tangata o le Moana: The Histories of Pacific People in New Zealand
o Pacific Histories in Indigenous Languages
o Island Histories/Historiographies
o Law and History in the Pacific
o The Arts and History in the Pacific
o Aid and Development in Historical Perspective
o The Secular and the Sacred in Pacific Historiography
o Sports and Gender in Pacific History
o Biography in the Pacific
o Natural Histories of the Pacific
o Methodology and Ethics of Research Practice
o Samoa, 1962-2012. Fifty Years of Independence
Paper proposals should include an abstract of 250-300 words.
Session proposals shoud include a synopsis (300-400 words), a list of presenters and their abstracts (250-300 words each).

The PHA serves the interests of specialists in Pacific history, Pacific studies, political studies, anthropology, and archaeology. The biennial conference is an international event drawing together researchers from the Pacific islands, NZ, Australia, Asia, Europe and the Americas.
