We hope you can join us from July 16 to August 3, 2012, for the inaugural meeting of the Religious Worlds of New York summer institute. The institute will meet at Union Theological Seminary, in the Manhattan neighborhood of Morningside Heights. It will be a home base for our exploration of New York City's religious diversity.
Applications are due by March 1, 2012, go to the website to learn everything you need to know if you are considering applying. You will also see an overview of the institute's innovative curriculum, and discussion of the pedagogic and civic significance of teaching about religious diversity in American schools. It also lists the daily schedule of the institute, including required readings, lectures and seminars, panel discussions, site visits, and assignments.
There are on-campus housing options for summer scholars at Union Theological Seminary as well as a $2,700 stipend to help pay NEH summer scholars' travel and living expenses. Graduate and continuing education credits available to summer scholars who complete the institute.
