I am seeking panelists for a panel on "Historicizing the Environmental Apocalypse: Historians and Climate Change" for the American Historical Association's 2013 conference in New Orleans. In keeping with the theme of Lives, Places, Stories, it will focus on the question of how historians tell the story of climate change.
Potential topics include
Histories of climate change awareness and denial (in a specific nation or region, or cross-cultural comparisons)
Historical fiction
Histories of science
Environmental history
Scandals
Work that illuminates a particular aspect of climate change in a specific location
Connections between climate change and issues of race, gender and class
Broader historiographical work on this issue
Please send a 250-word proposal and short CV to Matthew Schneider-Mayerson at schne641@umn.edu by January 15, 2012.
