The conference will help understand how people orally situate themselves in Assam, and retell stories of displacement, which, in turn, legitimize more inventions of location. This conference seeks to explore issues of roots and rootedness, travel and migration, shared and exclusive identities, mythologies of commonality and difference, that go into the making of migrant cultures in Assam.
