This is a call for abstracts for the 2012 International Sociological Association (ISA) Forum which will take place in Buenos Aires, August 1st-4th. Our thematic group, TG07 Senses and Society was recently institutionalized within the ISA and we are organizing a total of 8 panels that address different dimensions of sensory research:
1.Sensory scholarship - new directions in theory and methodology
2.Sensory experiences – Constituents of social justice and democratization
3.The senses in selfhood and identity
4.Sensory orders, sensory transgressions
5.Urbanity, space and place
6.Migrant sensescapes and transnationalism
7.Sensory absences
8.Business meeting/meet-the-author session
The deadline for online abstract submission is 15 December 2011. We would also like to invite you to join our thematic group as a member and to seek your support as this is an important step towards establishing recognition for sensory research in the social sciences.
