British Association for Japanese Studies Conference 2012 in Norwich
!!! Call for Papers !!!
Date: 6 September (Thursday afternoon) and 7 September (Friday) 2012.
Venue: University of East Anglia Campus in Norwich, UK.
Keynote speakers: Prof. Yoshimi Shunya, Media Theorist, University of
Tokyo. Special Guest Speaker: Prof. Irmela Hijiya-Kirschnereit,
Japanologist and translator, Free University Berlin.
Call for Papers: Papers are welcome from all fields in Japanese
Studies. The organisers especially welcome entire panels with normally
three speakers in one field. Paper abstracts should not be longer than
150 words (450 words for panels with three papers). Please send your
proposals together with your full name, institution and contact
details to: bajsconference@bajs.org.uk. Submission deadline: Saturday
31 March, selection complete by Monday 30 April.
Specialised Stream: Throughout the conference, there will be a
specialised stream entitled ?Japan Translates the World/The World
Translates Japan?. Papers are welcome on any aspect of Translation
Studies as it relates to Japanese Studies. The British Centre for
Literary Translation at UEA is pleased to sponsor an invited lecture
by the distinguished Japanologist and translator, Prof. Irmela
Hijiya-Kirschnereit (FreeUniversity of Berlin).
