Papers (30 mins duration) are invited on the theme of Street Literature: cheap print, popular culture and the book trade. Papers may related to aspects of the production, distribution and reception of 'street literature' (chapbooks, ballads, broadsides, newspapers, popular prints etc) in any part of the English speaking world from 1600-2000. Keynote lectures will be given by Dr Adam Fox (Edinburgh) and Sheila O'Connell (British Museum). Abstracts (upto 650 words) plus a biographical statement (upto 100 words) should be sent to Dr John Hinks (jh241@le.ac.uk) as an email attachment by 31 January 2012.
A Conference Fellowship is offered to one or two postgraduate students (or independent scholars of equivalent status) whose research falls within the conference theme and who wish to present a paper. The fellowship covers conference registration plus contribution to cost of travel. A summary of research and letter of recommendation from academic supervisor or tutor should be send to Dr John HInks (jh241@le.ac.uk) by 31 January 2012.
