This annual seminar aims to shed light on the profound renewal that the history of populations has seen since the last fifteen odd years. It takes into account the « constructed » nature of populations, the articulation between the study of practices, knowledge and institutions, rereading the history of social policies of public hygiene by means of demographic objects (mortality, migrations, families, etc.). More generally, it thus raises questions of construction and self-regulation of societies.
Most of the presentations will be in French. However, English speakers are welcome and papers can be discussed in French and in English.
