The 7th Annual Confutati Graduate Conference will take place at the University of Utah on April 13-14, 2012. This year's theme is "Mapping Effaced Identities", as we aim to examine the modes of expression that arise as identities are fragmented and negated through dialectics of power. Our keynote speaker is Dr. Fatima Mujcinovic of Westminster College. We invite graduate students in the arts, humanities, social sciences and related fields to submit abstracts dealing with representation and interpretations of identity in specific texts or con/texts. How is identity effaced and excluded from mainstream culture? What subversive identities emerge in modern cultural production? How does cultural hegemony subsume these identities and what alternative 'mappings' are possible? Submit abstracts (250-400 words) to 2012abstracts@confutati.org by January 29, 2012. Presentations should be in English and are limited to 20 minutes.
