We are seeking three participants – a presenter on post Soviet Russia, a Chair and a Discussant -- for our panel on “Portraits of Nostalgia: Imperial, Soviet and post-Soviet Variations" for the ASEEES conference 2012.
This panel will explore the ways in which various individuals, groups and state actors have made sense of their lives and surroundings using the concept of nostalgia. The goal of this panel is to discuss how historical (and contemporary) actors conceptualize(d) nostalgia through different stages of Russian history, including the Imperial, Soviet and Post-Soviet eras. We will ask to what extent it reshaped/is reshaping popular ideologies and realities.
Please contact Loraine de la Fe (email@example.com) by January 1 if you are interested in any of the positions listed above.
