For this special issue of Journal of Pedagogy we are interested in bringing together authors to discuss and debate the implications of neoliberalism for thinking about and conceptualising the changing dynamic of a particular set of education discourses and practices: pedagogy and the curriculum. Interested authors will consider the interplay of neoliberal governance, education policy, cultural politics, pedagogy and the curriculum as it emerges through national, institutional, socio-economic and geopolitical contexts. This will contribute towards generating an international perspective for exploring the relationships between neoliberalism and pedagogy, and provide a comparative model for tracing the multiplicity of attempts by governments, institutions and practitioners to reorganise pedagogy and curriculum development around new configurations and assemblages which are neoliberal in character. We are also interested in hearing from researchers interested in explaining and conceptualising how neoliberal styles, rhetoric, cultural forms, and the full range of extra-disciplinary practices that influence teaching practices, impact on ideas of social justice and possibilities for a ‘critical’ or ‘transformative’ pedagogy.
