Deep changes in the Spanish and Portuguese societies during the 1970s were the framework for the processes of political change that cleared the way for the consolidation of democratic regimes. More than thirty years later, it is possible to carry out an overview of the historical researches focusing on the 1970s, and, at the same time, to offer a comparative framework of historiographical debate to the researchers who are working both on Spain and on Portugal in that period. The social issues will be particularly addressed in the Conference, although it will also pay attention to the momentous political change.
The Conference will be structured in four sessions:
FIRST SESSION: The socioeconomic and cultural change
SECOND SESSION: The sociopolitical conflicts
THIRD SESSION: The crisis of the dictatorships
FOURTH SESSION: ‘Transition’ and ‘Revolution’ and their outcomes
PAPERS:
The top priority of every session is the historiographical debate around the subject matters introduced by the lectures and the submitted papers. The papers will be assigned by the scientific committee to the specific sessions. Deadlines for submission of proposals and final papers are as follows:

The proposals should include the following informations: full name of the submitter, field of study or profession, work or research center, telephone number, email address, title of the paper and a brief summary of its contents (maximum 200 words). Notification of acceptance of the received proposals will be communicated by February 29th, 2012 at the latest.
-Papers: September 15th, 2012. The text should be submitted in digital format as a Word file, and should not exceed 8,000 words including notes.
