As part of its Conferencias Caribeñas 9 lecture series for the 2011-2012 academic year, the Institute of Caribbean Studies of the Univ of Puerto Rico-Río Piedras, invites the academic community and the general public to the lecture “Comida y sexo en la novela Maitreya de Severo Sarduy (Cuba): Los sistemas sígnicos en la construcción de una metáfora barroca”[Food and Sex in Severo Sarduy’s Novel Maitreya] by Dr. Alicia Vadillo (Department of Modern Languages, State University of New York-Oswego). Dr. María Elena Rodríguez Castro (Assistant Dean of Graduate Studies, School of Humanities, UPR-RP) will serve as commentator.The lecture will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2011, from 1:00 to 3:00pm in CRA 108 , School of Social Sciences.
