The TePaske Seminar in Colonial Latin American History (formerly VACARGA) will be held at Davidson College from March 16-17, 2012.
The TePaske Seminar (named in honor of Professor John J. TePaske) is a vibrant and collegial gathering of scholars from the southern US. The seminar is organized in a workshop-fashion, with 8 pre-circulated papers presented over the course of 2 days. Presenters are asked to briefly introduce and contextualize their papers. A lively and focused discussion of the papers ensues (one hour is devoted to each paper).
We invite submission of paper proposals, which should include a two-page CV and 350-word paper abstract. The deadline for submissions is January 15, 2012.
If you plan to attend the seminar as a non-presenter, please confirm with us by February 1, 2012 so that we know how many people to expect, and can plan our logistics accordingly.
Please direct your paper proposals, confirmations of attendance, and any questions about the seminar to Professor Jane Mangan, Department of History, jamangan@davidson.edu. Davidson’s campus is located 20 miles from Charlotte, NC and the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport. http://www3.davidson.edu/cms/?debug=2
Early next semester, a seminar website will be available with information regarding hotel accommodations, campus venue, a Friday night catered dinner for all participants. Seminar papers will be on-line and accessible to all confirmed participants.
