With the passing of Philip Cannistraro in 2005 the historical world lost a giant in the field of Italian and Italian-American History. Cannistraro contributed groundbreaking work in both fields, and was similarly committed to the notion that his graduate students should continue his legacy of taking on big issues and offering new interpretations.
With this conference we seek to honor Philip Cannistraro’s legacy and to highlight new work in the fields of Italian and Italian-American History. Participants include Emilio Gentile, Gerald Meyer, Charles Killinger, Marcella Bencivenni, Peter Vellon, Emily Braun, Paul Corner, Ernest Ialongo, William Adams, John Davis, Marta Petrusewicz, Stanislao Pugliese and David Aliano.
