The goal for the conference is to nurture ongoing academic exchange on the changing web of relationships between Hong Kong and China, and the relevance, or otherwise, of ideas about cosmopolitanism to frame these transformations. To kick-start these conversations, the conference will be organised around six open seminars. Each seminar provides a critical-friendly space for robust but safe conversation. As a space for exchange, challenge, imagination, and re-construction, each seminar stimulates dialogue and participation on the basis of very succinct presentations which help identify key structures within debates. Our plenary leaders are drawn from different academic disciplines and from across Asia, Australia, US, and UK.
