Hello,
I am looking for two papers to fill out a panel I am forming for the Agricultural History Conference in June, 2012. I have a potential chair and commentator lined up.
I am going to present my work on the Equity Cooperative Exchange of North Dakota (a terminal wheat marketing agency and in many ways the forerunner of the Nonpartisan League in that state) and how that organization framed and used the successes of the Canadian prairie agricultural organizations (especially the Saskatchewan Grain Growers' Association and the Grain Growers' Grain Co.) in its aggressive conflict with the Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce (grain exchange). Equity, the SGGA, and the GGGC also frequently corresponded and attended each others' meetings.
Therefore, papers appropriate for this panel could fit into broad themes such as comparative agricultural organization; comparative Canadian and American agriculture on the northern plains or in general; agriculture in the North American West; or anything else that relates to these broad themes.
Please contact via email. Thank you.
