The Book Review Editor of a new quarterly magazine, The Civil War Monitor, is currently seeking qualified individuals to review pertinent new titles in Civil War era literature. A key goal of the Monitor is to help bridge the gap that still divides many professional historians from the general public. We are particularly interested in providing analytically framed but still entertaining and accessible reviews applicable to an exceedingly diverse audience. With this in mind, please note that the Monitor is open to perspectives of reviewers from all walks of history—academic historians, graduate students, reenactors, archivists, etc.
Reviews for the Monitor run 750-1000 words, are typically due within 60 days of receiving your complimentary copy of the book, and are hosted exclusively on “The Bookshelf,” the magazine’s digital book review blog.
If you are interested in reviewing books for The Civil War Monitor, please contact the Book Review Editor and provide up-to-date credentials (CV, resume, etc.).
