University of Bristol, Autumn Art Lecture Series 2011: Art and Sport
The 2011 Autumn Art Lecture Series at the University of Bristol looks ahead to the 2012 Olympics with six lectures celebrating the relationship between art and sport. The series has been organised by Dr Mike O'Mahony from the Department of Historical Studies (History of Art) and is supported by the Public and Ceremonial Events Office.
The lectures will run on six consecutive Tuesdays starting at 6pm, in the Reception Room, Wills Memorial Building. Entry is free, all are welcome and no booking is required. For further information, go to , or telephone (0117) 928 8515.

Tuesday 15 November - The Athlete as Artist and Art-Work: Zinedine Zidane on Film
Tuesday 22 November - Another Fine Messi: Animation and Sport – A Good Match?
Tuesday 29 November - Stilling the Punch: Boxing, Violence and the Photographic Image
In addition, there will be a double-bill film screening at the Arnolfini Art Gallery, Bristol on Sunday 11 December:
Soccer on Screen, a double bill of soccer-related movies: Zidane - A 21st Century Portrait and The Referees (CTBA). The films will be introduced by Dr Mike O'Mahony.
