The 4th Israeli Conference
for the Study of Contemporary Spiritualities (ICSCS)
University of Haifa, Israel
Since 2009, The Israeli Conference for the Study of Contemporary Spiritualities (ICSCS) constitutes an annual interdisciplinary framework for the presentation of research focusing on contemporary spiritualities, broadly defined, in a variety of disciplines – the humanities, social sciences, exact sciences, and more. The conference is also an arena for meetings and discussions among researchers, practitioners, and the general public.
This year ICSCS becomes international: a new international advisory board was founded, and the conference sessions will be given in English and Hebrew.
• Keynote lecture will be given by Prof. Paul Heelas on Spiritual Humanism (in English).
• Pre-conference and/or post-conference workshops will also be offered.
This year conference's central theme is the therapeutic/psychological discourse within contemporary spiritualities, e.g., therapist-client relationship within the spiritual field, the psychologization of religion, mind-body-spirit connections. This theme does not in any way limit all other research topics, and the conference will be open to all research fields within the study of contemporary spiritualities.
We invite researchers as well as graduate students to submit proposals for single paper presentations or for paper symposia that include 3 or 4 presentations.
Proposal forms for symposia or presentations in English can be downloaded from the conference's website (www.spirituality.haifa.ac.il). These should be sent no later than November 18th 2011 to firstname.lastname@example.org , addressed to Mr. Shai Feraro – conference coordinator.
Decisions will be e-mailed no later than January 24th 2012.
