Books & Ideas (http://www.booksandideas.net/) is the mirror website of La Vie des Idées, a free online journal devoted to intellectual debates on every continent. Created in 2007 by Collège de France Professor Pierre Rosanvallon, La Vie des Idées has established itself in France as a major place for academic debate, with an exceptionally large readership for a scholarly publication. In December 2010, Books & Ideas was launched to serve as the English-speaking interface for La Vie des Idées, and feature translations of our best articles. It has since published, on a weekly basis, numerous original essays, reviews, and interviews.
Books & Ideas favors pluri- and trans-disciplinarity, and embraces all the political and social sciences, without forgetting aesthetics, literary criticism, architecture etc.
Our interest is in short (up to 1,600 words for review, and 5,000 words for essays), highly readable, and unpublished articles and book reviews written in English. We can also translate articles from English to French for a co-publication with La Vie des Idées. For more details, you can consult our editorial guidelines: (http://www.booksandideas.net/Editorial-Guidelines.html)
