We are particularly interested in paper proposals dealing with any film form (documentary, short, experimental film as well as commercial feature) and/or film text which offer a critical study on the topic(s) of multiculturalism, diasporas, migration and identities in Brazilian society, including:
representation(s) of diaspora communities and experiences in Brazilian cinema within the current context of globalization;
the production and/or critical reception and public acceptance both at home and abroad of migrant and diasporic films and/or filmmaking from Brazil;
socio-ethnic identity and belonging;
ethnic/hybridity representation and migration narratives;
National/International/Transnational Mobility: Northeastern Migrants as well as Italian, Japanese, German, Jewish Immigrants and other minorities;
Border Crossings, Migration, Landscape and Identity;
ethnic stereotypes;
key filmmakers whose works illustrate (in terms of his/her own ethnicity, philosophical outlook, form and style, and/or personal background) diasporic film production in Brazil;
comparative aesthetic and stylistic tendencies in films dealing with diasporas from other Portuguese-speaking countries;
the role that films dealing with diasporas has played in Brazilian cinemas history and industry
