CFP: American Studies Association, 2012 (San Juan)
|
I'm looking for submissions to round out a panel in keeping with the American Studies Association's theme for the 2012 conference: "Dimensions of Empire and Resistance: Past, Present, and Future." Topics already part of the panel include one paper on representations of Puerto Rico in NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC in the early 20th century, and one paper about narratives of U.S. explorations in Antarctica during the Cold War and how those explorations paved the way for current adventure travel there.
I will consider any and all submissions that deal with the broad theme of empire (and resistance). I'm particularly interested in papers dealing with representations of empire (and resistance).
