I'm looking for a panel contributor for the Western History Conference next year (Oct, 4-7) in Denver, Colorado. My panel is tentatively titled "Marking Nature and Culture in Grand Canyon National Park." My research focuses on the 1956 Grand Canyon Air Disaster and the tensions between cultural and wilderness preservation the Park Service negotiated while managing the crash sites. The second paper in the panel looks at the reclaimed water system in the Grand Canyon and it how it highlights boundaries between humans and nature. Please consider contacting me if you have any research even remotely related to contested political, social, economic, or environmental boundaries at Grand Canyon. The deadline for panel submission is September 1st so contact me ASAP if interested!
