Southwestern Historical Association Annual Meeting
San Diego, April 4-6, 2012
CALL FOR PAPERS
You are cordially invited to join the Southwestern Historical Association (an affiliate of the Southwestern Social Science Association) in San Diego, CA, April 4-6, 2012 for its annual meeting. Participants may submit proposals for panels, individual papers, or roundtable sessions in any area of history. Proposals are welcome from faculty, independent scholars, public historians, and graduate students. Undergraduate may also propose papers or entire panels for student-only panel sessions sponsored by Phi Alpha Theta, the national History Honor Society; however, students selected for SWHA via the Phi Alpha Theta coordinator must be Phi Alpha Theta members in order to participate on such a panel. Graduate students are welcome to send submissions for inclusion, either as a regular session or as a Phi Alpha Theta session. However, graduate students must choose whether to submit their papers or sessions through the Phi Alpha Theta coordinator, or for a regular session through the relevant area studies coordinator listed below.
Submissions to the Annual Meeting of SWHA 2012 will be collected electronically at the following site: http://editorialexpress.com/conference/SSSAHIST2011. Submissions will include (for each panelist) a CV of no more than 2 pages, an abstract of 250 words complete with a title, contact information, affiliation, e-mail, and student versus faculty status. Please avoid abbreviations for institutions, academic ranks, or other items. Requests for projection (AV) equipment, as well as volunteers to serve as chairs or discussants, must be submitted in the comments box within the online submission program, and must, additionally, be sent in a separate e-mail to the relevant area studies coordinator before October 17. The deadline for receiving complete paper or session proposals via the electronic portal is October 17, 2011,
Individuals submitting accepted proposals will be notified by email approximately six weeks after the submission deadline; finished papers must be sent directly to chairs/discussants via e-mail by no later than 10-14 days prior to the conference.
