The Istanbul Writers’ Workshop is a group that provides academics critical peer feedback on their current projects in a supportive, collegial, seminar setting.
We are looking for 10 to 15 scholars of any nationality and institutional affiliation who are working on a thesis, article, or book to join our group this coming October.
The working language of the group is English and participants should be in Istanbul for a minimum of six months from October 2011 through May 2012. It is open to people working on any topic or discipline in the humanities and social sciences.
The workshop is hosted by the Istanbul Bilgi Department of History and will meet bi-weekly at the Santral campus tentatively on Wednesday evenings from 6-8 starting October 12, 2011. Papers will be pre-circulated and participants are expected to come prepared to engage each other’s work. Refreshments or a simple dinner will follow each seminar.
Participants are strongly encouraged to present their work at the culminating conference to be held in June 2012.
If you are interested in participating, please send your current CV and an abstract or description of your project no later than September 19, 2011 to
