Praeger will be publishing a two-volume series entitled, Before Obama: A Reappraisal of Black Reconstruction Era Politicians. This is the 2nd call for proposals and we’re looking for 5-7 additional contributors for this two-volume set. For consideration, submit a 150-200 word proposal by September 10th, 2011 to Dr. Matthew Lynch at lynch39083@ao1.com. Chapters of 8,000-10,000 words will be due by November 10th, 2011. For each politician, the editor has 1-3 sources to get you started. This is an update of a Call that was posted several days ago. It contains an expanded list of politicians.

Approach
This multivolume set will provide an intimate look at black Reconstruction era politicians, spotlighting their leadership and contributions during the Reconstruction era. It will also explore the idea that if these brave souls had not found the courage to stand, the election of Barack Obama would not be possible at this juncture in history.
Project Timetable
September 10th: Deadline for submission of a 150-200 word proposal. Because of time constraints, contributors will be accepted on a rolling basis.
November 10th: Chapter submitted by contributors on or before this date
November 10th: Each chapter sent to reviewers 1 and 2
November 20th: Each chapter received back from reviewer 1 and 2
November 20th: Authors notified of revisions (if applicable)
November 30th: Revised chapters submitted by contributors on or before this date
December 1st-30th: Final chapters edited and inserted into existing manuscript
December 30th: Manuscript edited and delivered to publisher
