Announcing the opening of a new collection at the George Meany Memorial Archives:
RG95-012. Private Donations. Anthony Wayne Smith Papers, 1920-1992.
This collection is comprised of the personal papers of attorney and environmental conservationist Anthony Wayne Smith (1906-1992). After a brief tenure practicing law in New York City, Smith moved in 1937 to Washington, D.C., where, for almost the next two decades, he worked as counsel for the Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO) in various capacities. In 1958, he became president and general counsel of the National Parks and Conservation Association (NPCA), a position he held until his retirement in 1980. The collection (72 cubic feet; 2 linear feet) documents Smith's personal and professional work.
