Democracy vs Communism: Remembering the 1951 Referendum on the Banning of the Communist Party 60th Anniversary
Conference dates: Thursday 22nd September - Friday 23rd September 2011
Location: Lecture Theatre D, Old Arts Building University of Melbourne
This conference aims to commemorate this historic event as a way of reflecting on its various dimensions, including legal, political, social, cultural, transnational and autobiographical aspects. We are seeking a multi-faceted conference, representing and examining a wide variety of views and approaches. We hope the conference will prompt discussion of new ways of approaching and writing Communist history in the 21st century.
